LACY EMIBA
Lacy discovered yoga in 2001 at a free class in the University of Central Florida’s wellness center. From the start, it infused her life with a sense of healing, adventure, and the desire to share the bliss with others.
After graduating with her BS and MA from UCF, she moved to Polk County to teach high school science. Almost immediately, opportunities to serve her co-workers and students as a yoga guide presented themselves. In Lacy's experience, yoga continually expands our capacity to enjoy life and people magnetize towards that energy.
Over the years, Lacy has practiced many styles, but shecurrently studies Anusara Yoga. She hopes to share how the Universal Principles of Alignment can open the heart to fervent beauty.

Yoga Studio Etiquette
Remove Shoes - Please take off your shoes at the door and place them in the designated cubby or outside the door,. It is most hygenic if shoes are taken off first thing.
Turn Off Your Cell Phone - Make a habit of turning your ringer to silent or leave your phone behind for class. We understand that some professions require unlimited access or that youu may need to be in contact with family members. In these cases please set your phone to vibrate.
Be Prompt - Arrive at least 10 minutes early. If you arrive late, please enter quietly and get settled in.
Respect - When you enter a class, you sign on to respect the instructor for the duration of class. You may discover partway through the class that you don't connect with this teacher, style, or time of the day. But you still should continue with the class, follow instructions, take your Savasana, and chalk it up to experience.
Keep Variations Appropriate - Keep in mind the level of the class you are attending. If it is an advanced class and some of the poses are too hard, it is fine to take a more basic variation of the poses being taught. Usually the teacher will offer this option. If you are attending a basic class, stick to the basic versions of the poses so you don't confuse new students. The teacher will offer you the option to take a more advanced variation when appropriate. When it comes time to take a vinyasa, always feel free to take either Knees, Chest, and Chin and Cobra or Chaturanga and Updog.
Use the Restroom During Resting Poses - It is fine to leave class to go to the restroom: There is no need to ask permission. The best time to go is when there is a period of rest.
Don't Miss Out - Savasana! - The final relaxation in Savasana is important. Plan to stay for the entire class. If you must leave early, tell the teacher in advance and take a short Savasana before you go.
We have yoga equipment available for your use at the studio. However, we suggest bringing your own mat if you have one.
What shoud I wear to class? Comfortable/movable clothing that is form fitting as we sometimes we go upside down.
Why should I refrain from eating 2-3 hours before class? In yoga practice we twist from side to side, turn upside down, bend forward and backward. If you have not fully digested your last meal, it will make itself known to you in ways that are not comfortable. If you are a person with a fast-acting digestive system and are afraid you might get hungry or feel weak during yoga class, experiment with a light snack such as yogurt, a few nuts, or juice about 30 minutes to an hour before class.
I'm not flexible. Can I practice yoga? Yes! You are a perfect candidate for yoga. Many people think that they need to be flexible to begin yoga, but that's a little bit like thinking that you need to be able to play tennis in order to take tennis lessons. Come as you are and you will find that yoga practice will help you become more flexible
How often do I need to do yoga to benefit? We're all different, It depends on your individaul goals and lifestyle. With any activity or goal - aim for consistency. The more you practice, the greater the benefits.
Is yoga a work-out? Certainly. Yoga provides both cardiovascular benefits and strength building, in addition to stress relief and other mind-body benefits. Yoga can be a gentle activity and it can be active practice that works ups a sweat. Visit our schdule page to see our class descriptions.
Should I pre-register or call ahead? No need to pre-register as all of our classes are on-going. Arrive a few minutes early to give yourself time to park, sign-in and get comfortable.
